Scoliosis Patients

When treating scoliosis patients, the supervising therapist is responsible for specifying the correct reference frame. Try to encourage the patient to stand as straight as possible when aligning the reference frame. As the patient progresses within the therapy, you can specify an even straighter reference frame. However, always remember that the patient needs to be comfortable with the settings, especially for prolonged training.
Depending on the degree of curvature and the individual curve pattern of the patient’s spine you might not be able to use the included applicator to define the correct sensor distance during the setup. In such case, please palpate the position of L1 to ensure the correct placement of the upper sensor.
When treating postoperative scoliosis patients with the ValedoMotion, the supervising therapist needs to consider the individual situation and abilities of the patient. Depending on where the vertebrae fusion exists, flexibility and mobility may be impaired. Therefore, the therapist needs to decide which movements and exercises are advisable for the patient.
