Valedo is one of the finalists in the Medical Design Excellence Awards

We are pleased to announce that Hocoma's therapeutic back training device Valedo has been selected as a finalist in the category 'General Hospital Devices and Therapeutic Products' of the 18th Annual Medical Design Excellence Awards competition. Cicor supports Hocoma in the development and manufacture of the therapeutic back training device and also very proud.

The MDEA is the medtech industry’s premier design competition committed to searching worldwide for the highest caliber finished medical devices, products, systems, or packaging available on the market. The awards program celebrates the  achievements of the medical device manufacturers, their suppliers, and the many people behind the scenes—engineers, scientists, designers, and clinicians—who are responsible for the cutting-edge products that are saving lives; improving patient healthcare; and transforming medtech—one innovation at a time.

Hocoma's digital back coach Valedo, for example, combined wearable technology with gamification to guide users through exercises to reduce back pain. Sensors monitor the user’s motion, which corresponds with the movements of characters in a digital game to help them perform the exercises correctly.

The Valedo device, which can be used at home and captures data to be shared with a physician or physical therapist, was also among a number of finalist products that are helping to continue the march of healthcare out of the clinical environment.
